Rubina- A Patient of Retinitis Pigmentosa

Young lady, NRI based in Canada originally form a village of Gujarat, first contacted me in the winters of 2013 ,and came here for treatment in the month of May 2013.She was advised by me investigations well before coming here and opinion was given of good chances of improvement to the extent that she becomes self sufficient ,but she didn't believed.

It has a reason also, ophthalmologists earlier told her that there is no treatment of this ailment and her vision will deteorate further.

And when I mailed her of promising a good improvement, naturally she didn't trust. She came to this Centre not for treatment but just to have talk with me, and when she had a interaction with other patient under treatment here she was assured and fixed an appointment.

Finally she came for treatment in the month of May 2013.

She advised refraction after the treatment because as other parameters have improved considerably but not the distant vision. She later informed me there is further improvement after refraction, She can read 10/40 with both eyes now. As from beginning I have not mentioned her vision in normal terms that is from 20 feet ,it is just to compare with pre treatment times vision has been mentioned from 10 feet.

This is due to the fact that with degeneration of macula and retina glasses can not be prescribed what is required due to impaired image formation. After the treatment there is improved image formation and patient can be prescribed glasses more accurately.

Glare improvement --80% normal and this condition was 6 years back.

Color vision near normal can read all color plates except one of Ishihara chart.

In the night she feels around 50% improvement.
